Trivia -- Tafari is named after Haile Selassie I, whose birth name was Lij Tafari Makonnen. Haile Selassie I was the last Emperor of Ethiopia whose reign was from 1930 to 1974. I learned about Haile Selassie from my mother when I was quite young. I remember my mother calling me to come in to the family room to see something on the TV. She said that I needed to look at the man on the TV as he was extremely important. I remember seeing this man on the TV walking onto a stage, from the right, in a large auditorium. He had a large flowing cape. Beyond that, I didn't remember anything other than his name and that he was the King of Ethiopia. Upon doing some recent internet research I found that the film clip that I saw many years ago was of Haile Selassie's speech to the League of Nations in 1936. He was appealing for help from the League under the premise of "collective security" which was an integral part of membership in the League. Italy had invaded Ethiopia. In this speech he also warns that other countries may suffer the same fate of Ethiopia if the League of Nations does not take action. 'PR' Grand River Kaibab Kaibab is sniffing a Canadian inukshuk. An inukshuk is a stack of unworked stones used by Inuit communities as a marker to indicate a variety of things, including that someone had been there, or to indicate a path. I regularly travel to Canada and hundreds of inukshuk line the freeway north of Toronto. Grand River Kaibab is the first pick male from Grand River's third litter of puppies.
