chinook dog - the next generations
Hurricane Chinooks
"The Next Generation"

This page gives a preview of what is to come in Hurricane Chinooks. These are my young Chinooks moving toward my breeding program through the show ring or a working venue. They probably won't all make it, but we will have a great time going to shows together to see if they can make the cut. I will determine their future within the Hurricane Chinooks' breeding program based on their success in a variety of showing and performance venues, and results of a variety of health and temperament tests.

CH 'PR' Grand River Colorado

between her paws and looking up at the camera

Grand River Colorado is the first pick female from Grand River's second litter of puppies. She is currently residing here with her brother, Kern, but is she is waiting for just the right breeding potential home to show up so she can be with her own family.

Trivia -- Colorado is named after the Colorado River, a river that runs from Colorado to the Gulf of California. The most magnificent section of the river is where it has, over the years, formed the Grand Canyon, exposing a myriad of hues of golds and red in the layers of rock along its steep banks. This river was first seen by Spanish explorers in the 1500s when Garcia Lopez de Cardenas lead a contingent of men to find this river that Native Americans described as a large river to the west of where Coronado, the Spanish explorer, was located near Zuni, New Mexico. The Colorado River, and especially the Grand Canyon that it formed, are magnificent sights to see and should not be missed by anyone traveling close to the area.

'PR' Grand River Kaibab

a brown Chinook puppy sniffing in inukshuk
Kaibab is sniffing a Canadian
inukshuk. An inukshuk is a stack of unworked stones used by Inuit communities as a marker to indicate a variety of things, including that someone had been there, or to indicate a path. I regularly travel to Canada and hundreds of inukshuk line the freeway north of Toronto.

Grand River Kaibab is the first pick male from Grand River's third litter of puppies. Although I was aiming for a female out of the litter, I just could not pass this boy up. I'm expecting great things from him. Thank you Grand River Chinooks!

Trivia -- Kaibab is named after the Kaibab Limestone that forms the rim of the Grand Canyon. It is estimated to be between 245 and 286 million years old. A clickable graphic of the rock layers in the Grand Canyon is at the Grand Canyon Explorer.
